  • Brian Tooley Racing (BTR) started as a small operation fueled by Brian Tooley's passion for engine performance and innovation. In the early 1990s, Tooley began his journey in the performance industry by working on cylinder heads and founding Total Engine Airflow (TEA). Eventually, he shifted to creating custom parts for enthusiasts, leveraging his expertise to fill a market gap for affordable, high-quality engine components. After leaving TEA, now part of Summit Racing, Brian founded Brian Tooley Racing in 2012 from his basement.

By emphasizing performance, value, and reliability, BTR gained a loyal customer base among hobbyists and hardcore racers alike. The company quickly outgrew its humble beginnings. As operations expanded rapidly, a move in 2014 to a dedicated 3,200-square-foot facility became necessary, marking the start of BTR's evolution into a full-fledged business. Continued growth led to a transition in 2017, when most operations moved to a purpose-built 15,000-square-foot headquarters. In 2018, BTR purchased a Spintron and started in-house camshaft lobe design and testing. That year also saw the company bring casting design in-house for intake manifolds and valve covers, and acquire a Superflow Powermark engine dyno. In 2018, BTR transitioned to an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), giving employees a vested interest in the company's success. In 2022, BTR added another 30,000 square feet to the main facility, 10,000 sq ft of which was for in-house manufacturing of camshafts, intake manifolds, valve covers, titanium retainers, and more. The expansion enabled faster product development and ensured consistent inventory levels. In late 2025, after the ESOP program matured, BTR's employee owners voted to sell the company to Burnout Brands. Under new ownership, BTR is set to launch more innovative products alongside our new Burnout Brands partner companies BD Diesel, Monster Transmission and D&J Precision Machine. With an additional 80,000+ square-foot warehouse and production facility set to open in 2026, BTR is on track for another year of major innovations and expanded capabilities.

Today, Brian Tooley Racing is a leader in modern American pushrod engines. Our success highlights the team's ability to work with experts, test products, and address customer needs. BTR's rapid growth from a basement operation to a major player shows that we live our motto: designing, testing, racing, and using our own parts—- Passion Fuels Innovation.
